Its story
Within the unfurled sails of the constellation Vela burns a yellow-white star of type F, slightly hotter and more luminous than the Sun. Its light took roughly 210 years to cross the void —it set out when Europe still celebrated Napoleon's coronation and the first steamboats sliced the Seine. It now reaches the eye as a steady whisper, nameless, faithful to its course among the ancient sails of the ship Argo.
