Highly luminous starIts story
A luminous white star of type A rises within the constellation Vela —a mature giant, far brighter than the Sun. Its light took close to 1,110 years to reach us: it set out when Christian and Muslim kingdoms still contended for the Iberian Peninsula and Europe was barely dreaming of its Gothic cathedrals. Today it still gleams among the imagined sails of the ship Argo, indifferent to the human tumult that no longer exists.
