Highly luminous starIts story
It shines in Vela with the clean whiteness of class A stars, a light that recalls freshly polished metal. Its glow travelled 1,822 years to reach us: when it set out, the taifa kingdoms were splintering across al-Andalus and the Normans were tightening their grip on Sicily. It belongs to the rare group of luminous suns, blazing with far more energy than our own and asserting itself even at this immense distance.
