Omi-1
Variable starIts story
Omicron-1 Canis Majoris is a colossal red supergiant, nearly four hundred times the Sun's radius and thirty-seven thousand times its light, tied to the distant Collinder 121 association in the southern reaches of Canis Major. It pulses slowly between magnitudes 3.8 and 4.0 without a clear rhythm. Despite being barely eighteen million years old, it is already destined to explode as a Type II supernova in a cosmically near future.
