Its story
At the feet of the Greater Dog, where Sirius reigns unchallenged, watches this orange K-type star, about 690 light-years away. Its light began the journey around 1336, when Petrarch climbed Mont Ventoux and the Hundred Years' War was breaking out in Europe. Cooler than the Sun yet larger, its coppery tone recalls a distant bonfire in the cosmic forest. Today it arrives as a breath of warm medieval fire.
