Its story
In Canis Major, the great dog that follows Orion across the winter sky, glows an orange K-type star, cooler than the Sun, with that warm serene light that seems to rest in the eye. Its glow travels around 204 years to reach us: what we see today departed about 1822, just as Champollion was deciphering Egyptian hieroglyphics in Paris from the Rosetta Stone and giving voice back to three thousand years of history.
