Hot blue starIts story
In Canis Major, faithful companion of Orion and Sirius, burns this blue B-type star. Its light set out around 526 years ago, near 1500, when Leonardo da Vinci secretly dissected corpses and drew the muscles of the human body. Much hotter and brighter than the Sun, it belongs to the brilliant lineage of stars that light the winter sky of the northern hemisphere. Its bluish tone contrasts with the white-blue glow of Sirius, only a few degrees away.
