Hot blue starIts story
73 Orionis is a hot blue B-type star in a constellation famous for its young, energetic suns. About 1165 light-years away, its light left around the 9th century, when the Caliphate of Córdoba was reaching its cultural peak. Such blue stars live fast and die early: the one we see today is, almost certainly, already different from the star that emitted this light more than a thousand years ago.
