Lambda-2 Phoenicis is a yellow-white main-sequence F6V star, 114 light-years away and around 2 billion years old: an older, slightly hotter cousin of the Sun. It belongs to a binary or multiple system in the constellation of the Phoenix, that mythical bird reborn from its ashes, drawn by Dutch navigators during their voyages to the Indian Ocean.

Lambda 2 Phoenicis lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is September, when it culminates around midnight.
