Hatysa

Its story

Hatysa is the Lambda of Orion, set in the very head of the hunter, and one of the hottest stars within reach of the unaided eye. It belongs to the rare O-class — vast blue giants burning at tens of thousands of degrees and devouring their fuel at vertiginous speed. From around 2,300 light-years away, the light arriving tonight left that surface when Alexander the Great was still riding eastward.
