105 Tauri is a hot blue star, a variable Be type whose spectrum shows emission lines betraying a disc of gas around the equator. Catalogued as V1155 Tauri, its brightness shifts slightly and it burns at over a thousand and eighty light-years within Taurus, far from the reddish heart of Aldebaran. Its light departed around the start of the tenth century, long before the Bull bore names in any Romance tongue.
Where it is and when to see it
105 Tauri lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is December: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
