Its story
99 Tauri is a G-type yellow giant 456 light-years away, on the eastern edge of the celestial Bull, not far from the Hyades. It is an enlarged, mature version of a sun like ours, well past the quiet phase of the main sequence. When this light set out, Magellan's ships were only just finishing their first journey around the world.
