Its story
89 Tauri lies relatively close, 162 light-years away, in the heart of the zodiacal Bull. It is an F-type star, slightly hotter than the Sun, and shares its sky with the Hyades —the open cluster nearest to us, which traces the Bull's head. Its light departed in the late 19th century. A relative neighbor among the stars that compose one of the oldest faces in the sky.
