Hot blue starIts story
34 Persei shines with the deep blue of hot B-type stars, a flame burning at temperatures far above that of the Sun. Its light crossed just over five centuries of emptiness to reach us: when it set out, European navigators were only beginning to chart the American continent. It dwells in Perseus, the constellation that in Greek myth rescues Andromeda, in a region populated by young clusters and high-mass stars.
