35 Aquarii is a blue B-type star, among the hottest the human eye can register, set in the ancient figure of the Water-Bearer. Its distance, greater than two thousand light-years, places it deeply immersed within the galaxy. Its light departed at the dawn of our era, when the Roman Empire was still expanding its frontiers.
