35 Aquarii is a blue B-type star, among the hottest the human eye can register, set in the ancient figure of the Water-Bearer. Its distance, greater than two thousand light-years, places it deeply immersed within the galaxy. Its light departed at the dawn of our era, when the Roman Empire was still expanding its frontiers.
Where it is and when to see it
35 Aquarii lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is August: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
