Variable starIts story
9 Cephei is a blue B-type variable kindled in the northern reach of the sky, within the constellation that outlines the silhouette of King Cepheus. Its glow is not steady: it pulses with the restless rhythm typical of massive stars, those young suns that burn faster and die sooner. Its light crosses space for hundreds —perhaps thousands— of years before surfacing as a bluish point among the northern circumpolar stars.
