Variable starIts story
In Pegasus, the winged horse of the autumn sky, pulses a red variable M-type giant 666 light-years away. Its light set out around 1360, while the Black Death was still reshaping European demography. Cool in color, slow in pulse, its brightness drifts gently around magnitude 5.84: a deep, almost garnet heartbeat that crosses the last phase of the Middle Ages to reach the contemporary eye.
