7 Cephei shines a deep blue about 805 light-years away, within the legendary king of the northern sky. A hot B-type star —young and powerful— it pours out far more ultraviolet radiation than the Sun, though to the unaided eye it appears merely as a modest point beneath the roof of Cepheus's royal crown.
