Highly luminous starIts story
41 Cygni burns as a luminous F-type giant some 769 light-years away, set deep within the Northern Cross that traces the Swan along the Milky Way. Its glow —far hotter than its modest naked-eye magnitude suggests— pours from a supergiant atmosphere that has long since left the quiet of the main sequence. Each photon arriving tonight left the star when Europe was barely learning to print books.
