Hot blue starIts story
11 Sagittae burns as a blue B-type star in the small figure of the Arrow, an almost straight asterism wedged between the Swan and the Eagle. From 455 light-years away, its magnitude 5.54 corresponds to a body far hotter and more luminous than the Sun, helping trace the silhouette of the celestial projectile. The light arriving tonight left its surface near 1570, when Tycho Brahe had just observed the supernova that would change his life.
