Its story
In the austral Telescopium, a constellation that pays tribute to the very instrument of astronomy, glows this white A-type star. Its light set out around 385 years ago, near 1641, when Galileo, already blind, was dictating his last works from his confinement in Arcetri. Hotter and brighter than the Sun, it offers an intense, youthful white. Its constellation, drawn by Lacaille in the 18th century, is modest in bright stars; this one is among the few reaching the naked eye from its southern corner.
