10 Aquilae is one of the brightest roAp stars of the northern hemisphere: an Ap star oscillating in extremely rapid pulses, of 11 to 13 minutes, coupled to its intense magnetic field. It burns near 7,800 K, radiates about 18 times the Sun's light and shows a chemically stratified atmosphere, where heavy elements settle in distinct layers. It lies 256 light-years away, in summer's Eagle.
