Its story
Catalogued as 109 Herculis, this orange K2 giant glows from roughly 119 light-years away, in a quiet region of Hercules. The light arriving now at our telescopes left around the time Pasteur was born, well before modern astrophysics took shape. At magnitude 3.85 it can be glimpsed with the unaided eye under dark skies, a warm orange pinpoint among the constellation's fainter stars in the body of the kneeling hero.
