A yellow-white F-type star lives in Sagittarius 1236 light years away, with a brightness that gently oscillates. Its light set out when the Song dynasty was reunifying China and reinventing printing with movable ceramic type. Somewhat hotter than the Sun and more luminous, its variable pulse turns it into an unsteady lighthouse of the galaxy.
