Its story
In Pavo, the southern peacock, shines an orange K-type star, cooler than the Sun yet far more luminous. Its light began its journey some 402 years ago, around 1623, when Galileo was publishing «Il Saggiatore» and astronomy was beginning to rest on evidence and telescopes. That warm glow now settles upon the cosmic plumage of the bird of the southern hemisphere.
