Its story
In the red heart of Scorpius shines an orange giant whose light departed around 1707, the very year the Act of Union founded Great Britain. Cooler than the Sun yet far more luminous, it wears the warm hue of stars already moving toward their mature age. Its soft, ancient glow holds a fragment of the sky where mythology placed the scorpion's sting.
