What is HIP 77412
In Serpens shines at 472.1 light years an orange class K star. Its light left around 1554, the year Bartolomé de las Casas was publishing in Seville key writings in defence of the rights of the indigenous peoples of the Americas. A star cooler than the Sun yet with an apparently warm surface, contained amber, pinned to the sinuous symbolic body of the celestial serpent.

HIP 77412 lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is May: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
