Its story
In Serpens, one of the few constellations in the sky divided into two parts, it shines with the clean white of class A stars. The light observed set out nearly 370 years ago, in an age when Velázquez was painting at the court of Philip IV and Galileo's telescope had already opened the door to a modern astronomy based on observation. It is a discreet and constant star, with no companion or pulsations, faithful to its white glow through the centuries.
