Its story
It shines in Cetus, the sea monster of Greek myth, a vast, understated constellation that ripples across the celestial equator. An F-type star, white-yellow and slightly hotter than the Sun, its light set out some 252 years ago, when James Cook was sailing the Pacific, charting islands and coastlines unknown to Europe. A serene glimmer suspended above the mythical creature's broad back.
