Its story
Upsilon Librae is an orange giant some three billion years old, thirty times the Sun's size and three hundred times more luminous, 224 light-years away in the constellation of the Scales. Its proper motion is steering it toward the Solar System, and in about 2.3 million years it will be the brightest star in the night sky, reaching a magnitude near -0.5. Its red light, modest today, is rehearsing for a long visit.
