Its story
58 Hydrae is an orange giant adrift 331 light-years away, in the endless tail of Hydra, the longest constellation of the sky. It belongs to that family of mature suns that have left quiet hydrogen fusion behind and swollen into cool, lantern-bright orbs. Its amber tone stands out against the blue of nearby giants. Its light, dispatched around 1694, reaches us just as we stop looking up.
