Its story

In Centaurus burns a red M-type giant, its light wavering slowly like a deep breath. Its 514 light-years set out while Spanish conquistadors were founding the first cities on the American mainland and global cartography was beginning to be drawn from one ocean to the other. That red light now flickers with the patient cadence of one who crossed a planet in the midst of reinventing itself.
