Its story
89 Virginis is an orange K-type giant burning at 244 light-years within Virgo, the largest zodiacal constellation. Virgo is famous for hosting the galaxy cluster that bears its name, but this star belongs squarely to our own Milky Way, a K-class beacon whose light—cooler than that of our hotter Sun—reaches us today from the late eighteenth century.
