Its story
In the Great Bear shines a white type-A star 196 light-years away. Its light departed in the early nineteenth century, when the Treaties of Vienna were being signed and Europe was redesigning its borders after the Napoleonic era. Hotter and crisper than the Sun, its white hue recalls ice lit by moonlight —a clean, elegant glow set upon the back of the most recognizable constellation of the northern sky.
