Cool red starIts story
In the direction of the Southern Cross shines a red type-M star, a cold ember that tints the southern sky with a deep, almost garnet, red. Far cooler than the Sun, it would burn with the patience of billions of years. Its light set out 684 years ago, when the Black Death was sweeping through Europe and a third of the continent vanished between 1347 and 1351. That silent light crossed human darkness without knowing it.
