Giausar
Lam
Cool red starIts story
Giausar is a red giant 333 light-years from the Earth, calmly coiled in the tail of Draco, one of the oldest constellations of the northern hemisphere. Its name reached Arabic from the Persian «jauzahr», an astronomical term naming the nodes where eclipses occurred: the symbolic place where the head and tail of the celestial dragon bit the Sun and the Moon during such events. A cool, ancient star — a relic of a sky in which eclipses were understood as living creatures, not as the mere three-body geometries that explain them today.
