Highly luminous starIts story
9 Cassiopeiae is a luminous A-type star set in the queen s zigzag, one of the most recognisable silhouettes of the northern sky. At magnitude 5.9 it stays barely at the threshold of the unaided eye, contributing to the W s background with a calm white note. Cassiopeia never sets at northern mid-latitudes, and this star joins its perpetual turn around the pole, beside the dusty trail of the Milky Way.
