Its story
13 Lyncis is an orange K-type giant moving through the discreet constellation of the Lynx, that figure stretched between the Great Bear and the Twins to fill an almost empty stretch of sky. At 211 light-years, its magnitude 5.34 corresponds to a surface cooler than the Sun's yet to a body far larger and more luminous. The light we glimpse tonight set out shortly after Hevelius first drew the Lynx itself in 1690.
