Its story
On the flank of Canis Major, far from the spotlight Sirius commands, this orange giant shines from almost a thousand light-years away. The light captured tonight left the star around 1037, when the Byzantine empire lived under Michael IV and medieval Christendom was barely past the year one thousand. Its warm tone is the signature of a K-type atmosphere, cooler than the Sun, swollen by the passage of stellar time.
