What is HIP 28011

Orion again, now with an orange giant 316 light-years away. Its light set out around 1709, the year Bartolomeo Cristofori was refining his pianoforte in Florence and a new musical language was being born. A K-class star traversing three centuries to leave in the eye the same golden timbre as those first hammers.

Where it is and when to see it

HIP 28011 lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is December: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight.
