Its story
Within the chained Andromeda, 379 light-years away, glows an orange K-type star whose coppery light set out when, in 1647, Hevelius was perfecting his telescopes and drawing the first detailed map of the Moon. Cooler and larger than the Sun, its surface hovers near 4,600 degrees; its slow, warm light crosses the darkness like a candle in an empty cathedral.
