Its story
At 773 light years, in the neck of the Crane, a warm K-class star burns the orange of an ember. The light reaching the southern sky tonight took leave of its surface around 1252, deep in the reign of Alfonso X the Wise, while in Toledo astronomical treatises were being translated from Arabic into Latin. That same light, very likely, was already drifting over those translator-astronomers.
