Its story
9 Lacertae shines from 172 light-years away in a small, late constellation — the Lizard, drawn by Hevelius in the 17th century between Cygnus and Andromeda. It is a hot, serene white A-type star whose light left its surface when the earliest photographs of the sky were still being designed. In the northern autumn dome it holds a corner without great legends, almost intimate.
