What is HIP 104968
A calm K-type orange tucked into the northern reach of Cepheus, this giant sends its light from 951 light-years. The photon entering tonight departed around 1075, when Toledo had just been reconquered by Alfonso VI and was becoming a cultural bridge between Arabic and Latin. It has travelled a thousand years for nothing and for everything.
Where it is and when to see it
HIP 104968 lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is November: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight.
